Our Story
Welcome to Cobalt Kiln Pottery!

I'm Carrie Kokoska, residing in South Bend, Indiana, though I claim many places as "home". Together with my husband and seven kids, we have traveled all over the world. Through all the adventures and moves we always knew we wanted to bring our kids back to Indiana, to be near to family. We've been here almost ten years now, and several of our kids are grown adults now. Life is ever-changing, and it still remains an adventure.
Recently, a shift in life has allowed me to invest more time and energy into pottery, and I knew I wanted to develop a niche that felt truly mine. I've long loved traditional cobalt-painted pottery, first created in China and later carried through many European traditions. Combining that history with my passion for painted expression felt natural. I find themes in my rich family heritage and the world around me, native plants and animals, as well as motifs that are deeply personal. I'm inspired by a variety of artists and art styles from all over the world. Somehow all of this comes together in an expression of myself.
That's how Cobalt Kiln Pottery was born. A little corner of the world where tradition and whimsy meet in everyday stoneware. I hope you enjoy being here.
